Indian Eyes, LLC supports the U.S Department of Agriculture, Rocky Mountain Region Forest Service for the Student Welding Program at Pine Ridge Job Corps Center (PRJCC) in Chadron, NE. The Welding Program offers instruction in numerous welding processes and associated skills.
The welding program realized a growth in enrollment from 87% to over 100% of the allotted training slots in the first six months; the current enrollment is at 122%. The growth in interest and student commitment has led to implementing a shop expansion plan that doubles the area for the program. The expansion will include added classroom areas, new welding booths, updated electrical circuits and new equipment.
Indian Eyes instructors bring years of welding and teaching experience as well as up-to-date knowledge of current welding industry practices, welding technology developments and training methods. Each instructor is skilled in teaching welding theory and techniques. They have the personal compassion to engage each student with a goal of preparing the students' skills and mind-set to be successful in the workplace and in their daily lives. Indian Eyes is very proud of the Welding Instructors and their dedication to making a difference in the lives of young people through this successful program.
The program instruction focuses on welding safety, welding equipment, welding processes and worker social skills for students age 16 to 23. The curriculum covers a wide variety of welding shop tasks as well as workplace and ethics situations for those just entering the workforce. The skills developed in the classroom and welding shop have prepared many students for successful placement into a variety of positions in the welding industry.
